How long do you QT and why?
I've read a lot of different theories about how long to QT. From 2 weeks to 6 weeks. What stuck with me the most was someone who wrote "if you QT for anything less than 4 weeks you might as well not QT at all."
I've been QT'ing for four weeks as a result of reading that statement but I'm wondering what other people do. |

i do 4 weeks somtime 6 depending on the fish when i get it, corals about 4 weeks, as for why, fish= so i dont add a sick fish to contaminate the rest of the tank, corals= so i dont add any bad hitchhikers to the tank, ie red bugs, nudi's, etc

Maybe I should clarify. Why do you chose a particular length of time over another? For example, does the period of time you chose correspond to the life cycle of a particular disease.

its more of a "to be safe" measure as opposed to a acual life cycle of a desease or hitchiker, i figure if i havent seen anything bad in 4 weeks it should be ok now to add to the tank
