Need quick advice.

I got a new/used tank. 14 gallon BioCube. The tank had some water in it along with Live Rock and Sand. Quesiton is whether I should trash the sand in there and add new or can I just add new to the old. It will cycle no matter what.

Water has been in there for about a week with no heat/circulation. Any ideas?

It all depends on how clean the sand is. If it has a lot of algae or detritus in it then I would discard it. I wouldn’t be worried about the no heat or circulation if the above is good and if it stayed at room temperature.

Thanks for the quick reply. The sand seems fairly clean. Not too bad. I have seen much worse that is for sure.

Did you disturb the sand much during the move? How deep is the sand?

It was pretty disturbed. I went ahead and tossed most of it. Figure I have plenty of the new stuff.
