Oy vey... Every day another challenge...

Anyways, why should I kill these guys? What problems can they cause really? I have approx 10-12 per square inch on some localized areas of my substrate at this time.

Some research indicates they eat pods? I guess this is a bad thing because my gold stripe maroon enjoys eating pods as well.

I did not take this picture but what is in my tank looks exactly like this:
