where did the pistol go? - figures when comes time to remove it cant be found!

how funny that i covered up all the burrows of the tiger pistol last nite - and today he still hasnt shown his ugly head anywhere in the tank!

after adding this pistol about 5-6 mos ago
he ate all my peppermints (6+) and a fire shrimp... as result my main 125 display is beginning to look literally like an aiptasia filter (testiment to peppermints job as aiptasia hunters! - why added them in first place)...

usually after i cover the burrow holes
in a matter of minutes it starts to show its face somewhere digging its way out from under the rock... have done this (((many times))) since adding it to keep tabs on where it is staying and to be sure its not venturing too close to our cleaner shrimp that resides on the other side of the tank (one of my wifes favs)

anyway i covered all the holes last nite
expecting to keep removing LR today until i found the pistol to remove it from system... but how funny that since covering all the holes last nite - it hasnt reared its ugly head anywhere to be found

any ideas as to what might have happened to this thing?

i seriously doubt that it would have died from covering its holes (have done this atleast 1-2xper week since realizing its destruction to other inhabitants and to keep tabs on its location)

and i dont know that i have any sort of a pistol predator
in my tank (wishful thinking)... this is hilarious actually considering how many times i have covered these holes only to have it show up less then an hour later...

also certainly was NOT intending to exterminate it no matter how much i disliked it!

have removable painted plexi on back of tank
and it sits out from wall almost 13" - removed the back today and have been looking around for a burrow hole - but there is not one to found anywhere - besides there was never just one hole that it would reside under but usually a series of holes under a particular rock.

before we added this thing
we asked around and not once did we ever get a negative review about it - not to mention all the people who seem to really rally behind keeping these here on RC!...

any thoughts about what might have happened to it??? was it esp the thing new it had it coming and is laying low until after i complete my water change today ? (have postponed-procrastinated doing a w/c for 2 mos knowing that when i did was going to keep digging until i got this tiger out! - iow was not looking forward to taking out over 200# of LR from my system! - cuts/scrapes on hands rocks in buckets in living room etc etc)
