temp of tank?

I have a 130g tank with a 2 bulb t5 setup. It gets warmer with the lights on over time. At it's lowest it's about 77 degrees, at it's warmest it might get up to about 79.9 degrees. I have a large maroon "gold stripe" clown, a redeye hawk, an orange shouldered tang, a niger trigger, and two blue damsels. We want to get a wrasse and a dogface puffer and maybe a goby also. Is this a problem for these fish and if so, how do I regulate the tank temp. Do I need to go to a canopy style top with fans in it?

Other than being a bit on the cool side, there's nothing wrong with your temps.

I try to keep my tank around 80. You should be fine. I try not to sway below 78 or above 82. Heater turns on at 78, if it gets that cool. No need for a chiller, yet.

Brrrrr at the 74 degrees! Is this a fish-only tank or are you trying to keep corals in it? Fish can deal with lower temps than coral, but everybody has higher heat with lights. Lagoons heat up when the sun comes up and and sand warms, right?

It's fish only, but I wouldn't mind getting a couple easy corals down the road.

If you do - a little high and stable is better than "optimum" and fluctuating...
