Cyano in Skimmer
I have cyanobacteria growing inside of my protein skimmer. is this something that i need to worry about. It is only on the side that gets light from my chaeto lighting. It is not growing in my main tank so it doesn't bother me, my question is does it effect the functioning of the skimmer?
Thanks |

Really cant see cyano inside the skimmer due to amount of flow.Could by coraline. Besides you should clean the skimmer out once in awile.Myself i clean the tubing , pumps and foam monthly but the inside much less.

Hmmm, I do see some coraline growth but it overwhelmingly looks like cyano. I can't get a picture right now because my camera is at work. But I can just clean it out more often, right now I am cleaning the body out every 2-3 months, which is where I am seeing the growth.
