Depends. Where are you getting the LR? LFS or online? What's in the tank?

You should be okay, depending on how close the LFS is. Your absolute best option to minimize die-off would be to take a cooler filled with SW to your LFS and transport the LR in that. Otherwise, unless the LFS is a really far drive, the die-off should be very minimal, and probably won't cause any problems. Just have some SW ready to go, and keep an eye on your parameters. But I think everything should be okay.

oh yeah I had one more question..... I was just curious could you add uncured liverock or "cured" live rock that has been out of water for a day or so to a cycling tank to help it cycle?(this has to do with a tank I'm planning on setting up in a few months)

You should be fine. You could do the cooler thing, but it's not necessary.

Yup. If the rock has to be out of the water, I would put some damp towels or newspaper over it, so it at leasts stays moist.

As long as the rock is clean and cured it is fine. At most I would use a new toilet brush and a tub of saltwater and scrub it off.

People will cringe, and tell me Im crazy but heres this. My LFS was breaking down a shark display. They had all the LR sitting on a pallet in the back of the store covered in all kinds of algea and crap. It had been there about a week, just drying out. It was still wet and was stinky. I got 40 lbs of it, took it home, stuck it in a tub and picked/scrubbed all the crap off of it. Then proceeded to stick it straight into my tank. Its been three weeks and it hasn't hurt a thing. No spikes, no nothing.

Also, its fine to put uncured live rock in your tank when you first set it up. Thats kinda what the cycle is for, killing all the crap and stabalizing your tank.
