Unhappy clam is detatching, need help figuring out why

Please help me to determine why my clam might be detatching from the rock. I recently found some flatworms in the tank but havent had the chance to erradicate them yet. I just put in fresh carbon. My current SG is 1.027. Temp 79.3

Color seems good but it's not opend as much as it usually is and it's sliding off the rock. How can I safely cut the byssal threads and lower it to the bottom. It is a crocea, Ive had it for a year under t5 lights. 75/25 and super actinic. More test results will be coming shortly. Thanks for your help. oh yeah it just started on Monday.

to remove it from the rock, tip it to one side and cut the threads as far away from the rock as you can. this wont hurt the clam at all. the threads are kinda like our hair.

if you haven't been running carbon, buy adding it the water will become much more clear and the clam might just have been reacting to the light increase

So If I'm understanding you correctly, cut the threads as close to the shell as possible without getting into the foot. BTW There was no recent light increas. its been under the same lights for about a year now. I'm planning on changing the bulbs this weekend or even tomarrow.

Ok. Here are the lab results

SG= 1.027

temp=79.3 f

ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate,=0.0

pH=8.2

Mg=1480

Alk=6.2 dkh and will be re tested and adjusted after the water change Im doing now. I have my water vat set to about 11 dkh for water changes and ca 475, Mg-1450 and temp set at 80 so water changes can be done quickly.

no, cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can. drag the knife along the rock as far from the clam as you can.

adding fresh carbon made the water clearer and that made the light brighter

Kinda what I was figuring about the alk. I just did a 25% water change too. I'll give it till about 8:00 tonight and then recheck the alk to see where I'm at. I'll probably cut the clam off the rock tomarrow to give it some time to adjust to the water change. What's your oppinion?
