Power heads for good Circulation

Can anyone give me any ideas on the best power heads to use for wave makers? I have two korolias now and I am not happy with the noise they make when they switch back and forth and one of them ( a newer one) the propeller gets stuck and I am afraid its going to burn out. I did try the Tunze turbelle nano stream with basically the same results. I have a 72G bow front if that helps in the suggestions. Sorry if this is covered in some other forum.

If your going to use a wave maker, the maxi-jets work well with them. You could try a Seio controller on the Koralia's or wait for the upcoming Koralia controller.

The problem with power heads is, they have a 50/50 chance of starting forwards or backwards, that's the sound you're obviously hearing. Two ways to get away from this are:

1) just use regular impeller type power heads where it won't matter if they start backwards or forwards (people have used MJ1200's for years on wave makers w/ no problems)

2) Get a propeller style powerhead that's able to be controlled. Seio 1100's and up can be controlled by the Seio controller, or the Tunze streams that can be controlled by the Tunze controller.

Other than this, you'll eventually burn out your powerheads. I tried maxi-mods and K1's on my ACJr and both types either stopped working all together or got so noisy it was unbearable to hear them change out. Someone may have a different opinion, but this is where I stand! I guess you also have the option of setting up a closed loop with an Ocean's Motion's Squirt or the cheaper route of a SQWD. It'll allow you to buy 1 water pump and 1 current switching device and get the powerheads out of your tank completely. This can be done w/o drilling the tank as well, just check out Melev's site at www.melevsreef.com under the 29g tank he put a CL on it w/ a mag5, just plumbed it up and over the tank.
