questions about new tank?

My new cube is ready, and i am taking live rock out of an existing tank. I am not sure if i am going to put sand in or not, but it would be from another tank that i am tearing down. Here is the question since i am using stuff from an established system, should i cycle the tank? Also could i use some of the water from the existing tank to help it out. Some of the livestock cant be moved, so i was hoping if im just swapping everything over i would be ok. Thanks

i moved everything from my 28 gal to a 54 gal . I mean everything lr around 30-40 lbs,dsb around 40-50 lbs, livestock. 1 tru perc, a watchman goby, some frogs pawn, a maze brain and a bunch of mushrooms. I used the water too. i added like 28 lbs more rock and 80lbs more sand. its been 3 weeks so far and it went thru a smal cycle but all is well and everyone seams happy. i would think it would be ok but hey im not a pro......lol.
My clown is over 7 yrs ived with a mated pair of tank raised percs that chaced him and also did a stint in a tank with a snow flake eel. Funny thing is i moved the pair to that tank with the eel and the tru to the other and the male of the pair got ate and he was bugger then the tru. i would say he is a tuff lil guy and hasn't grown since ive had him either.

If the other tank is well cycled there will be no problem. But if the other tank has any water quality problems then you will only be transfering the same problem over. I would correct it before proceding unless its all fine.

if your established tank was fine, moving the rocks to your newer tank would be fine. you don't need your established tanks water to help with the cycle, fresh new salt water is fine.
