Would you still perform water changes???

I have a 5g custom made frameless/topless tank that is presently cycling. The tank has a 150w Viper MHQI.

Because of evaporation, I'm topping off at a rate of 1g per week - 20% of tank volume.

Would you still perform the 10% change weekly in addition to the 20% topoff??

Topping off to make up for evap doesnt replace water changes. I usually change out 1 gallon every 3 days on my 5 gallon.

I would, top offs won't remove any of the organics and any other "bad" stuff. Also top offs won't replace any trace elements.

Great! Thanks guys. After reading the posts of topoff's not removing anything from the tank.....so simple to figure out...it never even occurred to me.

Thanks again!
