ID please.
I have these small branching brown things that grow almost everywhere. No preference to light or dark. To me it looks like ditritus that has clung onto a rock and formed a branching structur. What is this? Sorry for the bad pic.

This appears to be a peice of live rock with a mixture of some common coralline algae as well as nuissance algaes.

The light colored branches are foraminiferans if that's what you're asking. They're harmless filter feeders.

yes the light colored ones...but not so sure it is forams. I have the purple forams as seen in this picture.
![]() but the other branching structures are nothing like these. Are they another species of foram? I cannot find anything on the internet to confirm this. |
