Chiller
I need a chiller 3/4hp. which brand is better, tradewind or jbj. or do you suggest a different one

i know a lot of people like pacific coast(PCI) chillers. i have a jbj nano artica, but haven't hooked it up yet

Tradewinds, undoubtedly. IMO.
Universal Marine Industries chiller if you want to spend 2X as much, or more. Aqualogic also makes very good chillers. I use a Current USA Modular 1/3 hp. It's been a good chiller but I think that the Tradewinds is probably better built. I wouldnt go with less than one of the top chillers when going with the larger units. Universal Marine, Tradewinds and Aqualogic is probably where I would look. Actually, not Universal Marine, they are too expensive unless money is no object and even then I doubt that they are 2X better than Tradewinds. I had a Universal Marine 1/5 hp that ran trouble free for 10+ years. They used to be priced with Aqualogic, among the most expensive but not in another class of expensive. Im not sure what justifies the cost these days but I know that they are built like tanks. |

True. i have a aqualogic 1/3 now and really liked it. I need to upgrade it now. thanks for both your input
