Aiptasia living amongst zoos

Ok so I have a small Aiptasia starting to grow amongst the zoos in the kids 10 gal how can I get rid of that without harming the zoo colony?

Question 2 how much flow is to much flow with a horseshoe crab?

I dont know about the aipstasia but you can inject it w/ some kind of juice or water. That might work.
As for the crab I would reccomend you get rid of that. Those things can get bigger than your head.

Hit him with some boiling water... I wouldn't use kalk with the zoos in such close proximity. If possible try to use a strong syphon to "suck" him off the rock into a filter sock once the boiling water weakens him.

Joes juice doesn't harm coral apparently.

Get a peppermint shrimp (wudermanni species). Once the aiptasia is gone, make sure to spot feed it so that it isn't tempted to go after your zoas.

Ok so do I remove the rock with the zoos on it to hit the aiptasia with the boiling water? Just curious I want to inflict as little stress as possible on teh zoos.

I know it can grow up to 2 feet across. We caught one in a tidal pool in Florida near Cocoa Beach it was cool. They aren't actually a crab accoding to liveaquaria they are based on water spiders.

Ok I will look into Joes Juice but I like the boiling water idea I am just not sure how to attack this problem with boiling water if I need to fully remove the rock and zoos from teh tank etc. I want to do this with the least possible stress to the zoos as I can.

When I had a couple on a zoa frag I got, I put the rock with the zoas in a container (no flow) and treated very carefully. I made the zoas close up, but the aptaisias didn't.

I used a kalk-based aptaisia remover, but only because I couldn't find Joes Juice. It was easy enough to use the syringe to spot treat just the pests.

I've nuked Aptasia with Kalk paste when they've settled among the zoas. It usually causes no damage to the zoas, but if you lose one or two polyps in the process the colony will regrow quickly if otherwise healthy. Better to lose a couple zoas than have the Appy cause half the colony to close up and wither away.

I wouldn't try joe juice unless the aistapia is away from the zoa's. we've tried it and it didn't work so well.....If you do try it go to the drugstore and pick up some hyperdermic needles and you can inject it, make sure you turn the powerheads off though

Ok will do thanks for the heads up. Now my chore is finding the stuff in London no one seems to have it in stock. I may be stuck with the boiling water trick.
