Separating artemia from eggs
Hello,
I tried hatching out some brine shrimp for the first time this weekend... I could see them swimming around after 24-36 hours, But I'm having trouble separating the eggs out. Instructions said to shine a light at the bottom and let the eggs float to the top. After 10 minutes with a flashlight at the bottom, nothing. I thought maybe too much ambient light, so I covered the top half in aluminum foil and had the flashlight at the bottom... still dont see much separation after 15 minutes. Also, i guess the unhatched eggs seemed to float, but as soon as I touched the setup a bunch began to sink back into the water column. Is it really much of a concern? Should I just kind of pour off whatever is in the top 1/4 or so and know it's not 100% efficient?

I used to use a pop bottle with at least a 60w light bulb right at the bottom and they would all swim down there. I then used a piece of rigid air tubing to syphon them out. Try a stronger light then a flash light, I don't think that will be enough.
