Clownfish TRAPPED!!

i woke up this morning and went to check on things with the aquarium. when i couldn't find our clownfish i started to panic. he wasn't anywhere. then i found him trapped between the thermometer and the tank. i pulled the thermometer out to free him. he just kept swimming in that same spot, in the corner of the tank. will he be ok?

Probably just a place he felt safe for the night. I doubt he was "trapped" there.

I agree--in fact many times I have looked into the tank in the morning to find my pair of clowns in the overflow--again
Each time they survive an 8 foot water slide ride into a waiting net in my sump--and we start over again

Oh my gosh! That is hysterical! "Here we go.....Wheeeeeeeee!!"

And who says fish don't know how to have fun?

(I joke about this only because you assure us they survive the ride okay, Cap'n).

Oh...almost forgot to address the initial question! Sorry.

From what I hear....that is normal behavior for clowns. Ours loves to spend the night BEHIND the overflow....between the overflow and the tankwall. I thought several times he was wedged in there. Oh...and he usually sleeps standing on his head...in a totally vertical position. Scared the daylights out of me the first time I saw it.

Unfortunately, I had a small ocellaris who kept getting into my overflow as well. He made the trip down twice, but the last time he got into the overflow, I never saw him again after that, so not sure what happened to him.

Don't you enjoy the kamikaze slide in waterparks?
I guess so do your clowns

My male clownfish has made the trip into my sump like 4 or 5 times now. The most annoying part of it is that it is so hard to net him out of the sump. He's hard to catch when he's hiding between the chaeto, baffles and rubble.

I feel better after reading this thread...

My two clowns always go to the same upper most corner of the tank right by the overflow when the lights go off. They can't get in the overlow becuse it is covered.

In fact they never seem to leave that side of the 125 gallon tank....They do seem to be happy though...

everytime they survive--and so does that menance of a zebra striped damsel--which has alluded capture for so many times.

any fresh ideas how to lure it into a trap--maybe I should put the clown in the trap

He is hosting on your heater for a reason.

They need a place to call home. Give him an anemone asap!

No! don't give him an anemone just because he doesn't have one. They don't need one to survive in our aquariums. Make sure you can support an anemone after you have had your tank up for at least 6 months.

Yea mine looks trapped between two rocks but he likes it there!

Don't give him and anemone, he doesn't need it and your tank might not be suitable for one!
