Bio ball removal?

I want to remove my bio balls and replace with filter socks. How quickly can I remove the balls? Do I take a few out at a time over a long period of time?

How much live rock to you have in your tank and what is your bioload--inverts, corals and fish?

To Reef Central
I think you will be safe removing a handful every other day. I'm not sure what you mean by 'replace with filter socks'
