Rio power head causing heat?

I woke up this morning and saw my tank was around 89 degrees. My heater has been working great the past 2 months I've had it. One thing I noticed was that my refugium pump was making a grinding type of noise last night before I went to sleep, but I just figured something was kind of jammed in it, I didn't think it would cause any problems. I'm wondering if a power head could cause this type of problem? It's really surprising that my tank would get almost up to 90, when it was freezing last night.

Would not be the first Rio pump that melts in a tank, pull it out and check it. Keep an eye on it afterwards. If you can replace ASAP.
