Powerhead suggestions?

I'm looking to upgrade my Koralias. I'm looking to get either the Tunze or Vortech pumps. I want to run this on my 135g. I want more random flow and want to run a wave maker. I have no experience with either one so any suggestions or experiences are welcome. I just mention these to because they are the more popular ones, but I'm open to other ideas.

Shaka!

a pair of tunze 6080s or 6100s on a controller, a wireless vortech and a wavemaker would be really nice.

If you really want random flow consider a closed loop system. Otherwise tunze and vortech are still great choices. What it really comes down to with these powerheads is personal preference. The vortechs will not generate any heat inside your aquarium and have a little better look to them than the tunzes. They also feature a backup battery. The tunzes are known for their dependability, excellent customer service, and low energy consumption. Both are very good imo.

I have considered a CL but my tank is not drilled. I live on a military installation and power goes out everytime. I like the battery back up option. Has anyone hear about the tunze having a battery back up?

You could run an external closed loop. Tunze does not have a battery backup, but I've heard that they are making one.

Tunze has the 6105.50 safety connector. It is a battery back up switch and you supply the battery. Just make sure to use a sealed battery, like a gel cell. I have a 26 amp hour gel cell which will give me about 35-40 hours run time if needed.
