Using a fan in the canopy?

Hey guys and gals,

I am looking to make my canopy soon for my bow 46. I have just about finished the stand. I want to incorporate at least one fan for air circulation in the hood. I was looking at taking apart a walmart mini fan (I have it sitting around anyway) and mounting it in the side of the canopy.

The only thing I am worried about is the salty air. As we know from exprience it doesn't matter how "salt proof" you make something, it will get in there some how. Would that be a good choice for a fan? It does move a good amount of air, but I am jus still worried about the salt factor.

I was also thinking of using a computer fan or fans. How has your luck been with them for those who use them?

Thank alot

Jim

Those walmart fans are too much use a PC fan because it is quiet and pulls mostly heat (too slow for the smell).

I've got an old pc fan hooked up to a cell phone charger. It's worked well for 6 months.

check out Newark.com, you can get small fans that run on 110v ac. I run 2 of them in mine.

Also try Radio Shack... they have the fans and the transformers.

Here's my set up.

I have 4 fans (2 each side) with a speed control that pull air in and exhaust out the top.. they aren't visible from the side because of a 3/4" overhang for the vent.

I've only had them up and running for about 2 months....Over time I think the salt imact will be minimal because they pull fresh air in ... and don't push salt air out.

As of yet they don't show any salt damage.
