drain hole size?

So I'm planning a custom tank and need a drain hole drilled. The problem is I'm reading debates over a 1" drain vs. 1.5". If I go with 1.5", I'd need a 2.5" hole which results in the overflow box being bigger to enclose the hole. Which should I choose? The tank I'm planning is b/w 40 to 90G

Thanks

your drain hole size will be fine at 1" as long as your return pump is not to big,but for a 40g,or 90, you should be fine @1 ".JMO.

well I suppose the pump sizing will not be a problem, but I heard that they'll be more noise issues for the 1".
