4 weeks of QT is sometimes not enough

make that six weeks of QT isnt enough.

Purchased a flame angel from my lfs. I left the fish in their QT for two weeks to observe. After two weeks, I brought the fish to my own QT for observation. No signs of any problems for 4 whole weeks. So I finally put him in display with my two clowns. Last night I noticed all three fish were covered in white spots. Spent all last night getting hospital tank setup and ready to go. Got up this morning and tested water to make sure everything was correct. Went with a copper treatment because I honestly dont think the fish would survive 2 more days of being infested trying to get down to hyposalinity.

I have never done a copper treatment with the intention of reintroducing into a reef tank. How do you make sure the fish is free of any copper? freshwater bath before putting back in DT?

from what I understand you start the 6 week rule from the day you last see ich on your fish.

I started a QT tank using Copper and let the fish sit for exactly 6 weeks. Put it in the DT and the next day it had ich all over him.

I QT on an average of 4-6 weeks. The key part is to make sure you Qt right or the whole process will be wasted.
