SCMAS Meeting February 15th - Special Guest Speaker: Julian Sprung

When: Friday February 15, 2008 @ 7:00pm
Where: IHOP, 1001 E 17th St, Santa Ana CA 92701-2546

It's that time again. Last month SCMAS had an awesome presentation by David Saxby of England. This month we are pleased to present Julian Sprung all the way from Florida. It is not often that we get MACNA caliber speakers but we are doing our best to do what it takes to get them here.

Also we will have Jon Warner of Warner Marine debuting his new line of protein skimmers that will be available soon in a LFS near you!

We should also be selling discounted Southwestern Coral Farmer's Market Tickets for $15 each. Best to buy them now because they are $30 at the event.

We hope to see you there!

SCMAS

Yup! Support your clubs, people!

The clubs are SO CHEAP when you think about the value they're able to provide the membership... Without dues and membership numbers they wouldn't be able to get the talent (and product) for the membership...

I do know that SCMAS offers a "dual membership" rate if you belong to another club... Don't know that it matters which.

BTW IEMAS dual membership is fifteen bucks.

(hope you don't mind the plug, Greg... But the way I see it, we're all in this together, so...)

i loved the format to be able to ask questions of Julian.

i found it very interesting that he does infrequent water changes and is skimmerless and feeds a lot.

i wish i had gotten there earlier. i brought an appetite and only got the last seat on the floor and the waitress never looked at me. oh well...

Not bad for my first visit to a SCMAS Meeting. It was a pleasure meeting those of you that I bumped into. Julian Sprung was a pleasure to listen to. He spoke to all levels of expertise and seemed to be enjoying our company. My only regret was that I neglected to bring a copy of one of his books for him to sign. Truly a fantastic guest and I would advise every organization to seek his time.

It was a pleasant surprise to see prototypes of skimmers, and Jon handled some pretty tough questions in stride. Good luck to you and your company.

I joined the club directly and I eagerly look forward to the next meeting. Kudos for Greg, running the evenings events as smoothly as he did. Thanks Mystic Reef for the frag I won in the raffle!

I'm glad to hear that you all enjoyed the meeting. I want to especially thank Julian Sprung and Jon Warner for taking the time to share their information with our club. Also thank you to this months raffle sponsors: Amazing Aquariums & Reefs, Aquatic Eco Systems, Black Coral Hawaii, Jeff's Exotic Fish, Mystic Reef, Tunze, and Warner Marine. Also thanks to Jon's wife and son who dealt with that hellish Friday afternoon drive from Simi Valley to OC on a holiday weekend. It was a pleasure meeting you both.
