I keep mine at 1.024...

As far as garlic... I got no idea, I know people soak foods in garlic to stimulate their fish to eat. That's usualy liquid garlic though...

and as far as "BEST" level to keep your salt at.

I do not know if there is on persay...

I think about anywhere from 1.020 to 1.026 is acceptable, however the most important thing is to keep it consistant. Livestock do the best when parameters are stable.

I split the difference. 1.0245 sg
Don't know about the fresh garlic, I feed my Sabae clowns a little bit of garlic flavored flakes occasionally. Just for something different in their diet.

Regarding the salinity, anywhere from 1.021 up to 1.027 is fine, depending on what type of tank you're attempting to establish.

Are you attempting reef, or just a FOWLR? If just a FOWLR, you'll be fine anywhere from 1.021 - 1.027 as along as you keep it consistant. The fish will be fine.

If you're taking the reef route, then you definitely would want to stick on the higher side. Your inverts will thank you for that. 1.024 - 1.027. Most people on here seem to prefer the 1.025 - 1.026 range. But again, keep it consistant.
