Skimmer Question

I was reading another post about the efficiency of protien skimmers on air to water ratio. How more efficient would a skimmer work if you inject more air into the skimmer with an air pump?
More air = more efficient?
Thanks

You need to make sure that use use a limewood or similar air stone so you get the superfine bubbles. I have done this mod to my CPR Bak-Pak 2 and it has improved the performance noticeably.

How often do you change / clean your limewood stone to ensure fine bubbles?

If you look for jnarrow's skimmer thread, he's using an altima pump and a bunch of air stones. Its pushing over 100lpm at 105w i think. It will work if the skimmer is able to handle the air.

I run an EV-240 that has a John Quest fitting. I could hook up and air stone inside the skimmer, but how more efficient would the skimmer be if I hook up a air pump to the skimmer.

I always wondered what those better ETSS drew lpm? The 800 or the 1000 or bigger model. I have a buddy that has an 800 on a 125 and it will fill his waste container 6 1/2 x 13 in about 3-4 days of some funky dark stuff.

That is on a genx mak4 pump at 55W--I think? That DIY air driven monster skimmer is nuts! I read about that a while back.
