GFCI Shcokbuster vs. hardwired

What are your thoughts on using a 5 outlet Shockbuster for the tank, vs. installing an actual CGFI receptacle in the wall? Can the Shockbuster work sufficiently?

They work ok.
I use a Wall GFI.
The sockbuster I had one and gone off all the time if it was a bad one I do not know.
I use it for outside work now I think the salt air from the sump was getting to it.
Try it first if you need to get a person to put A GFI in the wall to save money.

i actually have 2 on my system
the main return pump is on its own and everything else is on another (that way everything doesnt trip at same time leaving no flow in main display tank)

one time while working in main dt it was tripped.

another time while away on vacation
the person watching my tank who doesnt know anything about fish tanks... called and told me the lites wouldnt come on in main display... (when got home one of the fuge hoses was leaking)... but atleast still had flow going to/fro sump!

has shown to be reliable in my system
atleast until we get a dedicated electrical box for it.

regards

Please put a GFI in start a fire or shock yourself as epstein showed.
I have had heaters break and put my hand in the tank and hello.
Also I would buy a Ground Titanium Probe in the tank. so if something leaks power your ok and trips the GFI.

hey i dont what you guys are talking about
how these shockbuster gfci rate compared to an actual wall outlet but has (((proven))) effective in my case... definitely not a forever choice but especially for someone who hasnt yet installed a wall gfci - its the CHEAP alternative.

besides has anyone come forward w/ info against these???

they are used by heavy construction equipment
and they would have to be rated and SAFE...

not like going to da dollah stoh !
and getting a dollar piece of **** then thinking the unit is safe

I not saying not to use one only the one was a three outlet. I had did not like my setup but it works fine when I use it outside. I have a five outlet for my other tank that one I had for 2 years and working well have it away on the side of tank plastic bag tape to the wall cover down over the plugs to stop if I drip water. As I said to get something GFI and cover it from saltwater that may drip into the outlets.
