Sera test kits...better than Salifert?

A guy at my LFS is trying to sell me on Sera test kits. They are a little more expensive than Salifert but are supposed to be more accurate. Salifert has been all I have used in the past but I'm not totally stuck on using them. So are Sera test as good or better than Salifert? Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome. I picked up a KH test and an Mg test today and I will let you know how I like them. So far so good on KH test, but the Mg test is a bit complicated.

jim,

Hi. Been looking for Ca and Mg test kits and Saliferts appear sold out across the country.

What is the resolution of the Sera Mg kit? Was considering Elos but thought that it said resolution was 100 ppm - which seemed kiond of high to me. Believe Salifert Mg resolution is 30 ppm.

Thanks, John

I'm using Sera for:
- ammonia : will detect levels as low as 0.05 (has a conversion chart based on PH). Salifert has only 0.25 for first color.
- nitrite
- nitrate : not as precise as Salifert. Can't detect low levels (less than 5ppm)
- Alk : not as precise like Salifert, but easy to use (1dkh precision)

They also make Sea Salt, but never used it. The LFS is using it and they have very good coralline grow.

FWIW if you like customer service ANY test kit is better than salifert.

Are they really out of stock everwere? Not trying to hijack but more or less figure out if I was right for the last 6 months......
