running media

Can i run a phosphate media and a carbon media at the same time in my canister or just one or the other

No worries. Just don't over-flow them, give the water time to be cleaned.

i was hoping so i just use it for media no bio balls or sponges but i have a cyano problem,all i run currently is activated carbon i am hoping the phos media will help remove my algae problem

I beleive Cyano is a bacteria. What are your perameters? Is your phosphate the only thing high? How about flow? I have found that increasing flow directly to the infected areas eliminates cyano faster that treatment alone, however there is nothing wrong with phosban or rowaphos. More flow more flow!

i have a 55 gallon with the canister rated at 350 gph a korilia 3 rated at 650 gph and a maxi jet 1200 rated at 350 gph i think the flow is fine havent tested for phos yet was just hoping that is the problem.

Ah. I actually took a powerhead and aimed it directly at the cyano outbreak I had, after syphoning it out with a baster. It never came back.

Most people donot run it in the same reactor because the carbon has to be changed more oven the the Phosban,
