Lightbulb AquaPod vs Nano Cube Aquariums

I was thinking about purchasinging an AquaPod aquarium. They are pretty similar to the Nano Cubes, so I have heard. I would love imput from anyone and everyone who has had any experience with either. Thanks!

depends on which model. The newer 28 gal Nano Cube HQI is way better than the Aqua Pod.

I was planning on staying small right now...looking at the 12 gallon. The standard aquapod looks like it has some nice lighting for the price.

IMO.......They are the same. I have pros & cons about both. I also think your LFS is going to push what ever he makes more money on.

NO DISRESPECT to LFS owners, I understand. I am also a business owner.

My LFS is pushing the Red Sea MAX Reef Aquarium System Package, which looks killer. However, no on in the whole town can afford to buy it. If no one has seen it...check it out

mp5150,

My LFS did say that he liked the BioCube & the AquaPod better, he does carry them all. However it could be that "money" thing again. I dont know, just that I love my BioCube.

One thing to concider is upgrades.....AND YOU WILL.
Check out www.nanoturners.com See what upgrades they have & the cost for each Cube... that mite be a factor in what one you get.

No mater what, you will want to upgrade the lighting if you are going to make a reef tank.

Currently I have the power compact 96 watts for my 16 gallon. What is generally the watts/gallon you would want for a reef? The standard lighting on the Aquapod and Nano sube are like 47-54 watts.

On my 14 BioCube it is 2 24 watt.....29 BioCube I think its 72 watts, this is the stock lighting.

The added light is another 24 watt....so total 72 for my tank.

For the BioCube, they have 3 upgrades.
1 - 1 more white light ( 2 bulbs )
2 - 1 more blue light ( 2 bulbs )
3 - 1 white bulb & 1 blue bulb Its called the 3.24 up grade

mp5150..... LOL ( cali code for person with mental disorder )

1 thing is if you stay with stock lights, even if you upgrade to another stock bulb.....IE, in my last post, you will be ok.

HOWEVER.... if you upgrade to MH bulbs, you will have to deal with the heat. You will most likely have to scrap the stock hood.

I have three Aquapods and really enjoy them. Once you start modding them, they all become the same IMO. Just go on price.

I highly recommend Dr. Foster and Smith for any of these. They run great specials quite often.
