LED cost

When will we see LED lighting fixture for reef come down in price. Right now imo the price is way too high. It would be nice if the initial cost did not eat up any energy savings.

Until you see LED lighting replacing normal lighting conditions I don't really see them coming down in price much. I give it another 5 years

It's because every current offering is using bleeding edge technology to try and compete with mature lighting options. While at the same time older models are discontinued. Add in recouping R&D investments and it will be a while before you see significant cost reductions. There are a couple folks trying to DIY a LED fixture. If they pan out that may be your only lower cost option. That and finding folks selling thier units.
