Snails & hermit crabs ?
First, I have a BioCube 14, I have 5 snails and about 10 hermit crabs..... Is this enough ?
I have been told that I need to put some bigger empty shells in the tank , or the hermit crabs will eat the snails to get their shells True..??????

The hermits will eat the snails regardless.

+whatever number we're up to. LOL My hermits have plenty of empty shells...they seem to go after the snails for fun! I just replace the snails.
They seem to pick on the nassarius. I haven't noticed the hermits going after the astrea.

nassarius are the ones that burrow in the sand newfish3.
i'm suprised that the hermits can catch them dileggi! some people like snails, some don't. if you like watching them, get more. i personally like what a mag float does to my glass better than a snail cleaning. |

I was surprised as well. I expected them to hit the turbo's or astrea, but nope...those hermits are working for their joy! LOL!
I should mention that it's only my blue legs that I've noticed knocking off snails...and other hermits once or twice as well. The scarlet's don't seem to bother anything. In fact, the blue legs have knocked off the bigger scarlets!

Ok, I'm not great at snail ID, but I'm thinking possibly turbo or trochus? Maybe someone can chime in on that one.
