setting up a 10gal. reef

I'm getting ready to set up a 10gal. reef, and i'm going to use the following equipment. I've got a 10gal. acrylic tank, 150 MH light, 2x 75w vho bulb set-up, iceprobe chiller, and for filtration, i was going to use an Ecosystem 40 HOB refugium. I plan on stocking it with a little bit of everything, so i'll probably lean toward using the MH. I'll have it hanging above the tank, so i can adjust the height. It's in a cool room, so i don't think i'll need the chiller year round. Does this sound good for what i will need? I'm not planning on using a skimmer. I know i have to keep up on the maintenance, watch overstocking,etc... Any suggestions would be helpful. I want to do this right, the first time. Thanks,Bob.

IMO your tank is too small esp with running those halides--your going to have soup

is this a typo error do you mean 100gal tank?

No, the tank is 10gallons. I have the MH's on a 18h right now. I can always change the lighting. My main question was, would the refugium be enough filtration ? I've seen some unbelievable tanks on Nano-Reef.com, with a lot lessthan i'm going to use.

I have a 150w MH light over my 10g right now. The only thing I need to keep the temp ok is a small fan that comes on the same time the light comes on. The last time around I built an over the top closed loop for circulation because I hate having pumps in tanks this small. Have a HOB filter to break up the surface and run carbon in sometimes. Frequent water changes are what keep you from needing a skimmer in these tanks. Do about 3 gallons weekly and you should be in good shape, IMO and IME.
