A quick LED project.
I had a little time this afternoon so I got to work on the LEDs for my 29g. I got the LED strips and transformer from ebay. They have 24 wide angle LEDs each and are completely water tight. I used 3/4 inch pvc elbows to mount them.
The very few parts used. I used a dremel to notch the pvc so it would fit snuggly over the lip on on my AGA tank. I then notched the inner lip used to mount a standard AGA hood so the pvc would slide down further. I drilled and tapped the bottom, outside of the elbows so I could screw in my nylon bolts. I painted them black to match everything else. The ends of the LED strips fit perfectly into the elbows. I ran the wires right through them and they can't be seen. After I set them in the notches of the tank top I tightened the nylon bolts so they couldn't move. This took me about 30 minutes. The tank is dry right now but I'll take a pic tonight to show how good they look. |

Thanks. It took me awhile to think of a good way to mount them.

Very nice job. Think about adding a short piece of PVC where you have the set screw this would let you swivel it also. Just an idea.

I might in the future but all I have to do if I want to move them is notch another spot on the top plastic, trying to keep them as low as possible.
They look awesome in the dark.......now if only my Marco Rock would arrive |
