Skimmer Going Nuts

We had some construction going on at our house, and I let my 45g "slide". In addition, my skimmer (Remora Hang-On) died. No skimmer for two weeks. A by-product of the construction and cooler lighting is that I am now able to keep the tank at 75 degrees instead of 84. I got a new Remora, and now I have to empty it twice per day! It been three weeks now. I did one water change, the fish are fine (nobody died), the star polyps are perking up. How long will I be emptying the skimmer cup twice a day? Whats going on?
