clam help quick please!

I just brought home a T. Squamosa. I have never kept one before and noticed it's byssal (sp?) gland is in a somewhat different spot than other clams I've seen. If you picture the clam shaped like a "u" the gland is not at the bottom of the "u", it's about 3/4 of the way up. Regardless of where it is, it needs to be burried in the sand correct? In the position I have it now, it's completely exposed. Thanks!

It will put itself where it perfers to be,just place it on the sandbed or slightly above and it'll do the rest.
