No plywood under tank and algae growth

Say you have a refugium underneath your main tank. If you don't cover the bottom of your tank will you get algae growth under the sand in the DT from the refugium light? I wouldn't think so since it's a near anaerobic environment 3" deep under the sand but I wanted to ask the people with experience. Thanks!

Assuming that you don''t have the light shining up at the sandbed, I don't see it being an issue.

There is nothing blocking the light from my fuge, and the bottom of my tank is algae free.

Though, my light and fuge are smaller. Here is how the light is.

You should be ok, there will be some algae growth normally anyway there, but nothing that has to be addressed. The growth that you can get would be tiny.
