I have lost whole colonies of zoas and palys and could not figure out why. Turned out to be a HH from my LR, Mud Crab from south pacific. I caught him in a tall glass leaned up against my LR overnight with a meaty treat at the bottom of the glass. Problem you will have is your shrimp will probably get the treat before the crab will. I have also made a trap using a 2-3 liter bottle. Cut the top off and about 2/3rds way up bottle and invert the top into the bottom. Poke a few holes through the 2 pieces where they meet. Thread fishing line through the holes and tie them off. This way you can do the trick above with the glass, bit it will be harder for the shrip to get your bait. Turn your moon lights off as well. The darker, the better.
good luck,
Scott

I've never had a coral banded shrimp, so I cant be certain, but from what I do know about them, he is probably the culprit.

Had the same thing happen. Fed my plate coral Wed. night. Peppermint shrimp kept trying to steal the food out of the plate corals mouth(after it had eaten it, it has done this on several occasions), so I covered the plate with a glass overnight. I thought this would give the plate time to digest the food. I was wrong. Came home from work yesterday afternoon and my plate was a bare skeleton. The plate was only about the size of a quarter at this point, before being consumed. I moved the peppermint to the sump for the time being, cause I'm not sure if he was the culprit. Just assuming this since he was the only problem child during the plates life. Anyone else ever have this problem with peppermint shrimp?

Nowhere near enough information given for an educated guess. Going to get lot's of shots in the dark here.

What kind of livestock is in the tank, what's your water parameters sitting at. Need to know things like that.
