Ich on Niger Trigger?

Hello:

I have a Niger trigger in my main tank (no i did not quarantene, my QT tank was not ready) and it seems to have some small white spots on one side of his body, while the other side seems clear.

He is eating alot and overall seems healthy. The only thing he does and it seems a little odd to me is that he likes to dart across the tank once in a while (dont know if this is normal in triggers)

I have not seen him scratch himself against any rocks or the sandbed and every other fish in the tank dont show any sign of white spots or anything along these lines (although I did see 1 of my flamefish scratch one of his sides against the sandbed as I was typing this)

The Niger has found a cave to sleep which is very close to the sandbed and I am suspecting this might just be some sand, however I want to make sure...

My question is:

Are there any preventive measures I should take right now to be safe?

In the event of an outbreak in my main tank, what do I do?

I have 2 clowns, 3 dartfish (flamefish), and 1 coral beauty; as wel as a full cleaning crew (bumble bee snails, hermits, astrea, SS starfish)

Regards,

Estefano

In the event of an outbreak you have to catch all of the fish and put them in a q tank for six weeks until the ick is gone from your dt. The best way to rid ich off of a fish is hypo. Your q tank should have a sg of 1.009 check this with a refractometer don't trust this to a swing arm, much lower will kill your fish.

Could I go Hypo on my main tank?

Could I just do this on my main tank or will going 1.009 salinity kill my cleaning crew etc?

I have hermits, bumble, astrea, nassarius, sand sifting seastar

Could you point me to a good thread on how to build a QT(what to put inside of it mostly)

Just type in hypo in the search at the top of the page all kinds of stuff to read on it. You do not want to put your DT into hypo, you will kill off the benefical bacteria and most likely your crabs snails and star.
