ASM Skimmer Owners
Have any of you guys ever tried any of the mods to this skimmer (Gate Valve, Recirc, feed Pump)? I am going to be getting one in the not too distant future and am thinking about doing some but I have ZERO experience even with a skimmer!!! Thanks

I have an ASM G3 w/ Gate valve and recirc mod. It's super easy and skims like crazy. I would not run it off a feed pump I'd feed the skimmer from the overflow outlet pipe (it'll be one less thing to plug in). If you want to come over and take a look @ my skimmer set-up you are more that welcome.
LMK Thanks Ed

I've got a G2 with the gate valve mod. Im very happy with its performance.it has performed. I'd leave it alone, but am curious to see how it will do with the recirc mod and by feeding off of my overflow.

i just bought a G4X except they call it G4XX now. As far as I can tell the only difference is they changed the pump from a sedra 9000 to a sedra 1500. Im running mine stock. Contemplating mods what do think?

Gate valve mod is simple...the hardest part is finding the 1 1/4" gate valve(which they have at Orchard Supply Hardware). I can get pictures for you, but basically, it is just 1 90* fitting from the skimmer's adjustable riser into the gate valve and into another 90* fitting. The riser is pushed all the way to it's lowest position and then all the adjustment is done at the gate valve.
