outstanding plumb job and beautiful rock!

one thing concerns me though: the returns along the front bottom. What happens if the power goes out?

Those returns on the bottom part are part of the closed loop system. So if the power goes out nothing can drain out of there. Now the two back returns that come from the fuge have a chack valve on it to prevent back flow from the syphon. Thanks for the compliment.

Chris

My plans are for SPS up towards the top and LPS at the bottom. For fish i have selected a Flame Angel but have not decided on anything else yet. I have saved a space in the back right of the stand for a calcium reactor and will mount a PH controller by the power outlets.

It sure does. I had to redo some of the plumbing before putting the rock in. I really like the oceans motions unit. Got sand in it and had to redo the intake for the closed loop and clean out the OM unit. But all is fine now. I hope the cycle will go fast but i am for sure going to wait for it to finish. I alredy have enough $ in it and dont want to add fish just to kill them. Not just for $ purposes but for there sake too.

I had to turn the lights off because its seems to be bleeching the coraline that came on the rock. Is this a normal thing?

are eels reef safe? and are powder blue tangs able to be put in a 120 gallon? Web site says 90 gallon minimum but that seems kinda small.

Chris

the bleaching happens when you put too might light for too long.. keep in mind most of the rocks have been out direct sunlight when you got them and when you crank the lighting like 12noon with no clouds for a full cycle it's a little overwhelming to whatevers on the rock.

The return pump for the sump is a mag 9 and on the closed loop is a dart.

Should i leave the lights off during the cycle?

the return pump is actually a Mag 9.5. Well i got my test kits today and my ammonia is 0 already, Nitrite is at 4 now and Nitrate was starting to rise. At what point do you start the water changes? Oh, i also am showing phosphates, is it too soon to throw on the phosphate reactor?

Chris

So i did my first water change yesterday of 25 gallons. Ammonia and nitrite are zero and nitrate is almost there. i will do another water change this next weekend to get them down. With my lights on the water gets up to 81 so i think i will be fine with heat. Now i only need to get a auto top off, PH controller and monitor and calcium reactor. Oh and a better thermometer.
