Need help with RO/DI setup

For some reason I can't get the Prefilter In/Out connections to not leak (the screw in part, not the clip in for the line). I'm using Plumber's Joint Compound w/Teflon on them (recommended by the RO/DI place) and it's still leaking.

I've sent them an email, but I don't think I'll get a response until Monday. Any suggestions?

I know with these it is easy to cross thread. Make sure that you are even with the unit or eye to eye with the connections.

I'm pretty sure they are straight and not cross threaded. Spin in and out smoothly until they start to make contact.

This plumber's joint stuff doesn't seem to harden, should it? It seems to act like Never-Seize...

The unit is from AquaSafe Canada (Ebay).

Iam waiting for the Fedex man to deliver my RO/DI system from the filter guys....But I have a filter system for my normal everyday water under my sink...I had this same problem. I noticed that there was a sag in the line right at the fitting & there was a drip..drip..drip.

I pulled it apart & put a support about 8 inches back. Then tightin the connections back....NOW good to go...

I'd consider that if it were only the In line that was affected. But since the pre-filter out (where it doesn't have a sagging line) is doing it also, I don't believe it is the same issue. Thanks for the response though.

I added some teflon tape to those 2 connectors, and it is better, although not completely fixed (from a spray pattern output to a small slow drip). I think I need to add some more tape to it, and that'll do it. Or at least I hope. For now... I'll drink beer and look at it tomorrow. If you guys think the teflon tape isn't a good idea let me know.

You should be fine with teflon tape. I used it to fix a small leak where my RODI went into the float switch in my water storage comtainer.

Haven't done the fix yet, but do you guys think the hardware stores would carry extra line, or am I going to have to order some?

Make sure you wrap the tape on the correct way so in effect you dont loosen the tape and cause wrinkles when you tighten the fitting.
