skimmer submersion question

Just had a quick question about submerging my Bermuda 5C skimmer. While i know their webiste suggests a max water level submersion of 10.5 inches, im just wondering if it will effect performance at all if i put it in 12 inches of water. While i wait to hear back from them, i figured i'd ask you all.

I know a simple fix is to just lower the water level in my sump, but if i dont have to, i'd prefer not to. So....what effect, if any, does the water level that your skimmer sits in have on overall performance?
