External skimmer on sumpless tank?

Anybody running an external skimmer on a sumpless tank?

Just curious of those without a sump like me, if anybody has tried plumbing in an external skimmer to their tank, instead of going the HOB skimmer route.

Any pics would help!

I'm sure someone will pipe in here, but I've seen a couple, you just have to hike the skimmer up above your tank some.. I think the one I saw was a ER RS80 or something ... pretty sure it was a euro reef though. As long as the stand pipe goes over the tank's edge it should be fine.

Yeah, that'd be the plan. Feed it with a MJ1200 and plumb the standpipe back into the tank.

Seen it dones many times. The output has to be higher than your tank. Any external skimmer should work like this.

Yep, there's a lfs here taht does it all the time with recirc's. They show you how they work and they set them on the top of the tank. It would be an eyesore in your home though. The shelf behind your tank would work the best and would be the best hot skimmer out there.
