Refugium How to ????

Hi

I have this Refugium and have No idea how to hook (plum) it to my main tank (which way the water flows thru it). It is a TruVu. I had called the company and they were no help (just wanted to sell a new one). Anyway I think the water flow comes in at the left side (I think a protein skimmer goes in there)and then water flows goes down thru egg crate (should I place some floss or sponge there?) I will have live sand in the middle section..but there is only one divider on the right! That's where a hole is drilled on the bottom right side. What keeps the sand from going into the pump? Should I install another baffle? Also What would be a good way to clean it and should I use some filter socks?

Just can't wait to install this to get some water in the tank!!
