raising Alk
I'm dosing esv b-ionic and my alk stays around 7. How can I raise the alk without raising the calcium as well? I would just like to raise it to about 8.Thanks.

If you use the B-ionic to boost alkalinity from 7 to 9 dKH, the calcium will only rise by about 13-14 ppm. So unless the calcium is actually too high, and if B-ionic is otherwise what you use, I'd stick to dosing equal parts of the B-ionic.
![]() That said, baking soda is a fine way to boost alkalinity. But unless you are supplying calcium somehow (like a high calcium salt mix), it will become depleted and then you need a big boost. You just often do not notice calcium drop since on a percentage basis it drops a lot more slowly than does alkalinity.
