Looking good. Any pictures of your sump? What kind of lighting and do you have a skimmer?
I like the sun coral cave. |

ditto on lighting. Those sun corals are beauts! Do you have your fowlr covered? Hard to tell from the pics. Hate to see your snowflake go carpet surfing. Great job!

Aaronovky - Yes, I will eventually be getting more corals. Just want to research more and make sure I know what I am doing before I add more.
sk8rreefgeek - The reef tank was bought from someone in town a few months ago and I moved it to my house. He had it running for about 4-5 years. The big rock (the one the sun coral is under) I just bought about a month and a half ago. It was not purple at all when i got it. As you can see from the blenny picture...the stuff grows pretty fast. |

wow. that's impressive. I wonder if it grows faster cuz the rest is already covered. I've had my light up for 2 months, about half of the surface of my rocks is covered, but its a more reddish/purple
ever consider a mate for your GBM? what lighting are you using?

Mate for the clown? No...I have heard that is difficult. With the amount of time I already put into running these, I like to keep it easy for now.
For the lights...the reef is under a 250W MH and flourescents (1 actinic, 1 normal). The FOWLR is under PC's (4x65W 2 actinic/2 normal). I forget the K ratings, but i will check when the lights go off. I want to get better lighting for the reef tank a.) so I can have a better chance at SPS's and b.) cause i hate the canopy. Cant wait until I get my economic stimulus check from the feds. Also, here is a picture of the tunnel I constructed for the snowflake. It is PVC and buried in the sand bed. It has three entrances. One on the right side of the rock formation, one in the middle (in the cave) and one on the far left side of the rocks(this one is kinda hidden) If you look at the pic, you can see his head poking out of the middle entrance and one of the other entrances is behind the algae in the bottom right area of the picture. He seems to love the tunnel. |
