Aquapod 24G fan dead after 4 months!

Bought my son a 24G Aguapod to replace his 12G Nanocube this past Christmas.

The fan on the canopy barely runs anymore. I have to "whack" it repeated just to get the blades moving but it eventually stops spinning after an hour or so.

Has anyone encountered problems with their Aquapod fan? I'm wondering if I should try to get a replacement from the MFG or if I'd be better off putting in a better quality replacement (already replaced the OEM pump with a better aftermarket pump)?

Better get this cared for now before it starts warming up in the MIDWEST!

Does the canopy come off or do I have to mess with the cover and all while it's on the tank?

it does come off but if you dont do it right you can break the bracket. I just opened it up about half way and stuck a screwdriver into the hindge and spread it a little and popped it out one side at a time. DO NOT try and remove the whole bracket from the tank it will break the bracket. seperate the bracket where it pivots
