i still have brown or red stringy stuff in my tank?????

i have been changing water with ro water for the last 3 weeks now,i put in a huge phosphate pad last week, modified my skilter skimmer, changed filter media, started feeding 2 times a week and still have the red brown stringy stuff in the tank when the light comes on. what else could be happening?

Maybe it isn't a water quality issue, it could be something you have to manually remove.

what are your nutrient levels? how much flow and what size tank?

i have a 30 gal with about 400 gph of flow my water parms nitrates, amonnia, nitrites, all 0 ph 8.2- 8.4. temp verys from 78- 79 in the day to about 76 77 at night, s.g is 1.025. its strange because it isnt there when i first turn the lights on only after a few hours of them being on.

I found that low Mg, and low Alk can tribute to that. If my Alk gets below 10dhk, PH below 8.3, and Mg below 1100 then it starts to grow in one corner of my tank. Also you may need a little more flow. I move 1600 gph in my 75 if you count powerheads and all.

ive been looking at all kinds of ph and cant chose which to get. there are the koralias that move alot of water but are real bulky looking and then the maxi jets that look ok but move half the water the koralias do so im kinda stuck on what to get

I use to maxijets and some other one that i forgot the name to. It just sweeps to top and pushes everything back to the spill box.

ok so what would be the best way to position the jets? i now have one on each side, one shooting up and the other twords th center middle.

That sounds pretty good. I try to bounce one off the front glass. The other one might be better if you put one of those heads on it that twists. They really work good at keeping lots of indirect flow.
I know they make them for maxijets. I got mine at the LFS.
