30" tall. Will t5's work for acros?
I have a 150 4' long 2' deep and 30"s tall. I currently have 2-400 watt 14k MHs and a 150 10k HQI MH. I love the color t5s give. Can I run t5s over this 30" tank and still be able to keep stuff towards the bottom and all levels.
And if so are there any fixures you can recommend? I am currently looking at 2 8x54watt t5 fixtures to place over tank. Will this work? |

My understanding is that people have done it with lots of T5s, but not sure about on tanks that are 30" deep. I think T5s lack the punch to get light down deep, so you may have a rough time keeping acros in the deeper parts of your tank. I'm no expert, though.

IMO, you shouldn't have a problem using T5 lighting on the 30" high tank. T5 lighting intensity and PAR value doesn't decrease as fast as MH intensity and PAR value. This means that you will be able to grow some corals faster on the bottom with T5 than with MH.
