metal halides and acrylic tanks, will they cook them?

Someone said I might have a problem with my acrylic and my halides, is this true? I plan on running 2 250 watts, I don't think I sould have any problems, I will be mounting them over the holes.

the bottom of the reflectors are 6'' from the top. The acrylic is aout 1/3'' or so.

If you have a problem melting the acrylic your also going to fry your tank. They kinda would have to go hand in hand if you think about it.
